Some of us are more sensitive than others. What bothers one may have a profound effect on another. I am speaking about someone who is sensitive to others’ needs. I am speaking of humanitarians, volunteers or someone who generally feels the pain or needs of others. I am speaking of scientist and doctors who want to cure and solve. I am not referring to nor speaking about a hypersensitive person.
As a toddler runs to the aid of another child that is hurt on the playground, they feel compassion for the other child. As years go on, that particular child might feel things more intensely than his/her classmates. To be sensitive is to have feelers sticking out all over your body. Your mind thinks of different scenarios to solve all of the world’s problems. Your heart seems like it is magnetized a million times. But it doesn’t stop there; your body is sensitive as well. The cold becomes colder, the heat is much hotter and the noise is much louder.
You might be that sensitive person, if not, you probably know someone who is. This is not a bad thing; it is an awesome quality to have. As adults we might see a sensitive child and think that they will grow out of it, but many don’t. For some they might want the child to toughen up, but what they don’t understand is from the child’s view they are toughening up, the hard way. For each wrong doing, the injustice is embedded into their soul and the end result of that is they will go to great lengths throughout their lifetime to make sure that those injustices do not happen to anyone else.

So, if you were ever told that you are too sensitive or if you have ever told someone that they were too sensitive, it is not a bad thing. I see sensitive people everywhere, and to me, they are the problem solvers of our world. If you want to see what a sensitive person looks like just find someone who has that determination in their eyes and compassion in their heart. They are our artist, our musicians and our poets.
