The internet revolution has touched each and every organisation and has changed their work process to a greater extent. Digitisation of each of the organisational activity has made the work process a lot simpler than the conventional methods. Owing to the change in the organisational activities the mode of training also transformed and e-learning became a popular learning medium. Trainees can access the e-learning module at their home or at their workplace with the help of user id and password. Earlier, it was necessary that trainee and trainer remain at the same place to learn or conduct the training but emergence of e-learning programs has changed the scenario. The training material can be accessed from anywhere, therefore individuals located in the remote areas can also avail the benefit of the online training modules. The learning can be induced using different means such as mobiles, games, and social media. Of all, social learning is gaining popularity among the corporates, because of its wide reach. In social learning, the e-learning content is intertwined with the social networking sites like Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter. Users, while logged on to their favourite social networking site can access the e-learning training module. There are various catalogues available from which users can choose the appropriate ones. The tracking feature tool helps in keeping the record of the courses. Moreover, users can rate and recommend the online modules to their friends. Owing to the wider reach of social networking sites, learners easily get accustomed with the training process. Also, the popularity of the medium also ensures less dropouts and better user engagement. Participation of friends further enhances the scope of learning. Social learning is more or less similar to collaborate learning where geographical distance does not matter for the trainees. Online training solutions help the trainers to exchange information with employees located in far-flung areas. With the help of different tools like surveys, blogs, discussion boards, wikis and polls, collaborative learning proves to be highly effective. The collaborative learning tools also help the trainers by allowing them to show slide shows, PowerPoint presentations and keynote speeches. By transferring files, sharing applications and documents, the learning process has been streamlined. With these modes of learning, e-learning is widely being accepted in many of the organisations including banking and financial industry, software & IT, life sciences, education and training and retail services. The learning content is customised as per the needs of the different organisations, which not only helps in growth of the employees but also helps in growth of the organisation as a whole. Moreover, along with the developments in the market, learning content is modified and updated time to time, which aids in keeping the employees updated of the latest information. Another advantage associated with the e-learning modules is that these are scalable, which is one of the major conce s of the growing organizations. These programs can also be integrated with the on-going training method, thereby saving the resources and of the organization.
