Let's face it, no matter how much you love your job, it will usually get boring eventually, making you lose your motivation. When you do something every week, every day for weeks or months with very little change, it will wear on you, eventually ruining your enjoyment of it.

So what can you do about boredom? It's actually pretty easy, try different things related to your job or hobby, which will increase your motivation. I'm doing this with personal coaching business, by creating productivity e-courses.

Broadening Your Horizons at Work

I've been working as a personal coach for over a year now, and I enjoy the work, but I do want to try some different things.

Last month I started developing an e-course for people who work from home, Be Productive at Home. I am currently running a small class for this e-course, which is going pretty well. So well in fact that I'm making it a monthly course. For my part this e-course involves writing, creating videos, answering questions, seeing what the participants are doing, and keeping everything going smoothly. It's really interesting and challenging for not only the participants but for me.

By adding to this aspect of my business, I'm not only increasing the number of customers in an area that I specialize in, but I'm challenging myself which keeps me motivated in my business.

In your own work, you can do the same.

If you have your own business, try to expand it into a new area, or learn another aspect that you normally give to someone else, such as marketing, accounting, or web design. If you can handle some of the work yourself, it can save you time and help improve your business. It could also potentially lead to other jobs. If you're a web designer, learning how to do some copy writing for your own business can lead to new customers, and you could offer to do some basic copy writing as an additional service.

A freelance artist or computer graphics designer who learns marketing, instead of just drawing a customers ideas, could instead plan a marketing strategy around their images, increasing their customer base, and increasing their fee's.

If you don't have your own business, see if you can get some new responsibilities at your current job, you may have to take a course to do this, but that shouldn't be a problem. When working on a team, you could also volunteer to help with tasks that you are not the best at, as a way to learn new skills.

Rather than doing the same job over and over again, once you have a handle on your current tasks, try something new. You should relate it to what you are doing already, but it isn't necessary if you're ready to change your career, or shift your focus.

Recently we've had troubles with our existing teleconferencing service, with people having troubles getting a long-distance line to dial into a teleclass. Two years ago we did a huge research project, looking at all the paid and free teleconference services in order to choose the best one for our small, 40-person teleclasses and our large 400-person teleclasses. Once again, I'm back to research mode.

Why is $250,000 the magic number? There has been much debate with regards to how to close the budget deficit. With President Obama's fix saying that federal income taxes should be increased for households making more than $250,000. The questions is, how did this become the threshold between being considered wealthy or middle class? Many people are questioning whether or not a household making more than that are truly wealthy enough to be taxed at the same bracket as millionaires.
