Break down your major goal into smaller goals as well, so that you can better judge your progress.
Next, after setting goals, you should also have an elaborate plan to help you achieve successful fat loss. You should plan your meals one week at a time. When you are shopping for your foods, make sure to avoid the aisles which contain biscuits, soda and processed foods. Stick to the parts of the supermarket containing vegetables, fruits and natural foods.
If you are very out of shape now, you should also be prepared to make some lifestyle changes. Healthy eating is a type of lifestyle, and not a fad diet. To see visible changes within your body, you have to form new habits. You may realize that some of your friends will actually try to influence you to continue your bad eating habits. This is why you should be careful to spend more time only with people who understand your goals and support you.
Changing a lifetime's worth of horrible eating habits is certainly not easy! You should find a friend to work with, and make sure that he or she is not willing to accept any excuse from you! This way, when you are held accountable, you will feel more pressured to lose weight and the chances of you succeeding increases as well.
You should also reduce your portion size at your meals. One of the simplest ways to reduce calories consumed is to use smaller plates or simply halve your intake! The main reason why you are experiencing weight gain is because you are consuming way too many calories than your body and level of physical activity requires.
Finally, you should also avoid foods which are high in sugar or fat content. Foods high in sugar content will cause a blood sugar level spike within your body, resulting in greater accumulation of fats. Avoid foods or drinks like white bread, soda and fried foods. Also, try to keep your alcohol consumption to a minimum level.
