Stepping Into IT

Years ago when I (Paige) was pursuing my illustrious acting career ;) - I asked the artistic director from the Jeff Daniels' theatre what is the "IT" that those special actors have who really make it in theater and the movies...

He very quickly answered me...

"IT is perseverance."

Well, I definitely didn't have "IT" because after spending a year and a half in NYC as an "aspiring actor" I chucked it all for a steady check and a dental plan! But that's a whole different story...

As Brian and I have committed to do whatever it takes to have a successful business helping others to create a successful business helping others, we have dealt with a lot of things that could have caused us to "chuck it all" and give up on our dream.

But thank goodness, when it comes to helping others through our business, we do have "IT ". In fact we all have "IT", we all have perseverance... if we choose to use it.

Truth be told, if we had given in to the feelings of doubt, fears, worrying what others would think of us and sometimes a lack of faith and belief... we would literally be bankrupt and never be where we are today –a multiple six-figure business that is helping A LOT of people... who are helping A LOT of people.

Woohoo!

There is a cycle to everything; there is one that moves you into success, and there is one that moves you from your certainty and decision into doubt, blame, overwhelm and eventually giving up and quitting. And this cycle is really a killer, not only of dreams and businesses, but also of the opportunity for the rest of the world to benefit from the amazing gifts that those who succumb to the pull of quitting possess.

It deeply saddens us when we see people get caught up in this negative cycle, so here are a few things we have used should you ever be taken over by the cycle of quitting and be tempted to forget that you do have the perseverance to continue...

Make a move! Pay attention to your energy and when it is heading on a downward spiral... change your environment... leave your computer or work area, go for a walk, turn on some inspirational music, read an inspirational passage, take three deep breaths, anything that can start to shift this energy (we turn on the Black-Eyed Peas :)
Write! Do some writing about it... what mental tapes are you running in your head? Write them out, give them a voice and see how preposterous they are. Then counter these negative voices with truths that you know on a deeper level... pick some of these truths to post in places you will notice often. (We will often burn writings of the negative tapes and let them fly away!)
Reach out! Call up a positive supporter who you know will lift you up, support you and remind you of your gifts, your talents and your unique offering. We are not meant to do this alone so get help to keep you motivated, inspired and on track. (We have an incredible Accountability Partner who always seems to keep us moving forward!)

These are just a few suggestions you can use to help move yourself from that place of wanting, doubt and fear. Give them a shot if you start getting that twinge to quit or give up or stop moving forward...

As Napoleon Hill said, "Before success comes in any man's life he is sure to meet with much temporary defeat and, perhaps, some failures. When defeat overtakes a man, the easiest and most logical thing to do is to quit. That is exactly what the majority of men do."

Step out into the minority and step into your greatness!
