The steps to writing an ebook Organization - Some form of organization is key to succeeding at almost any business venture. This is absolutely true about authoring an ebook. Outline - This goes back to organization. If you remember your English classes back in High School, you will understand what an outline is. An outline is the basic mapping out of your writing. It is generally used to help keep the writer's thoughts on track. In this case, what you should do is open a new document on your word processor, and type out the titles for each chapter. Allow some space between each, but don't try to put in all the room you will need for each chapter. In fact, don't worry at all about the format right now. The main purpose is to get everything down, and in the correct order.

The Content - Pretty self explanatory, I think. Now you should fill in the content. Still don't worry about the formatting at all, just write. Clean up will come later. If you try to fix it while you write, it will just break your rhythm, tire you out, and slow you down. At this point, just write.

The Cleanup - Now, after you have written everything, is when you get to fix it., and make it pretty. First you need to create a title page. On this page you should, of course, put the title of your ebook, and maybe a bit of information about the author, you. Next is the disclaimer page, and after that is your table of contents. And the last page, should truly be the last page in your ebook. It is the resource page, and it should be positioned at the end of your ebook.

Now you should proof read your book. It normally helps if you take some time away from your work. The reason being, you know what you meant when you put the words down. What you need to know is not what you meant, but what you actually said. And while you are proof reading it, clean up any extra spaces, etc.

When it is proof read, you will need to put the final touches on it. Your header and footer, which should have your page numbers there somewhere.

PDF - You will have to convert your new ebook to PDF in order to publish it. PDF is an abbreviation for Portable Document Format. It is possible to download a program to convert it to a PDF, or you could use something like pdfonline.com.
