As more people become overweight and want to lose weight, there also seems to be an increase in the amount of false information about fat loss. The following article seeks to share with you some of these myths, and go through them.

First of all, it is often believed that late-night eating will cause you to gain lots of weight. The problem is that, what you eat is much more important than when you eat. If you take excess calories, it does not matter when you take them; you will still gain weight. Simply focus on burning off more calories through physical activities than you take in.

Secondly, it is also a common belief that drinking cold water will help you to burn more calories. However, truth be told, the amount of calories burnt by drinking cold water is really insignificant. Drinking sufficient water will keep you healthy and hydrated, but the amount of calories burnt is too insignificant and you should not depend on this to help you lose weight.

Thirdly, most fitness experts recommend cutting out all favorite foods from your current diet. This is the single biggest mistake you can ever make. If you were to remove all of your favorite foods from your diet for long periods of time, you are going to overeat all of them the moment you give in to your longstanding temptations. Instead, you should treat yourself occasionally to the foods you love. A healthy fat loss diet is about moderation and not deprivation.

Next, people also believe that the more calories you reduce your dietary intake by, the more weight you will be able to lose. This is true, but not if you were to suddenly cut your calorie intake significantly and suddenly. If you suddenly reduced the amount of calories you take, your body will go into panic mode, and slow down your metabolism drastically to protect yourself; resulting in minimal to no fat loss instead.

Some people also believe that by training a particular part of your body, you will be able to reduce the amount of fats you have there. Otherwise known as spot training, this is not possible. No exercise regimen will be able to lose fat only from a specific part of your body. The only way to remove fat from the part of your body which you are unsatisfied with is to reduce the overall amount of fats you are holding onto; also known as your body fat percentage.
