If you are overweight now and want to lose weight, you definitely need to take in fewer calories. The main reason people become overweight is because they take in more calories in the form of foods than they are burning off through physical activities. Thus, to lose weight, you need to take in fewer calories. The following are five weird techniques to reduce the amount of calories you take in!
First of all, you should take your time when you are taking your meals. You should chew your food for longer periods of time. This is because your brain takes approximately 10 minutes to process that your stomach is full. When you eat too fast, you tend to overeat. Therefore, by taking your foods slower, you will find that chances of you over eating are lowered!
Secondly, you should make use of smaller bowls or plates to take your meals. Research has shown that when you place the same amount of food on and eat off smaller bowls or plates, you will tend to take less food. This is because you subconsciously believe that you are taking in more foods on the smaller plate, when you actually are not.
Third of all, you should remove all temptations in the form of food from your home. The less temptation you have at home, the harder it is for you to give in to your random food cravings and end up snacking on unhealthy foods. It is very difficult to always have the necessary discipline to not snack at all. Basically, prevention is definitely better than cure!
Next, you should try to make the plate you are eating from to be a different color from the foods you are eating off from it. This sounds like a really weird tip but it works! Researchers have found that more color contrast between the foods you take and the plate from which you are eating from will subconsciously make people want to take smaller portions.
Last of all, you should concentrate on eating when you are having your meals. You should not be watching television programs, surfing the Internet or playing computer or smartphone games when you are taking your meals. This is because when you are doing something else while eating, you will unconsciously take a lot more food than you should be taking. Therefore, when you concentrate on eating, you will be able to lower the chances of you over eating.
