Stress has always been a part of human life, be it a housewife with making a home and being a facilitator for rest of the family members or an employee working in high pressure job. A student is stressed out with so many career choices in hand and so much of expectation from others, whereas an athlete has to fight competition and maintain consistency. Strangely in today’s modern times with increased facilities, we see ourselves struggling all the more with STRESS.
Why do we feel stressed?
Life has high physical, mental and emotional demands from us 24/7. Stress is the feeling of helplessness or feeling of being out of control in process of fulfilling this demand. So basically stress is not a situation, but a state of mind .A student can feel stressed out even about a routine home work. On the other hand an adult might be calmly going for a professional exam knowing the result will have an impact on his life.
The amount of stress has nothing to do with the situation. This is the reason that even after running from one bad situation, a person will meet another bad situation until and unless they realise that situation is not causing stress but our perception of oneself and of the situation causes stress. So many lives would not end up in suicide if only they knew that one cannot end stress by ending a situation. Look around and we can find another lot of thousand people dealing with the same situation easily. I am sure they don’t have a magic wand!
Stress is not all bad
Stress is an individual term and accordingly it can be termed as good and bad. The hustle and bustle of a wedding is a good stress, whereas loss of a job would be a bad stress.
Like been said about everything in this world, even stress has its positives and negatives. Research says that a little amount of stress is required and helps to get most from an individual. Exams are always seen as stressful but it helps a student to give its best and so it’s a helpful process of confidence building.
On the other hand if the so called stress gets the best of you than it is like a sickness, one which can be difficult to live with. The wisdom is in knowing where to draw the line between worrying or caring about something.
