Here’s one way to increase your happiness and become healthy. And you don’t have to buy any herbs or supplements or do much of anything out of the ordinary It’s FREE… and you can make others happier and healthier too.

How Many People Smile These Days?

I Did a Case Study Over the Weekend at the Mall

I was at the mall over the weekend taking a poll of how many people were smiling… and 99% of the people don’t smile. That’s a sad fact, most people have a glum look on their face and don’t smile at all. But, I did find two people who were smiling all the time. One person who takes care of a booth in the mall and another young lady who helps people with curling irons. Both were friendly and smiling all the time.

Studies Show - A Simple Smile Releases Happy Chemicals in Our Brain

Studies show that when we lift up the corners of our mouth we feel better inside even though we have not changed our thinking. When we smile it activates the production of neuropeptides that negate stress. And the brain releases serotonin, dopamine, and endorphins hormones that make us happy.

Studies Show - We Feel Rewarded When We See Someone Smiling

A study published in the journal Neuropsychologia showed that when we see people smiling it activates our orbital frontal cortex which is the reward center of our brain and thus we rewarded when we see people smiling and thus we feel happy.

Studies Show - We Look More Attractive When We Smile

Research done at the Face Research Laboratory, University of Aberdeen, Scotland showed that people found others more attractive and better looking if they just smiled and made eye contact with people.

Studies Show - We Mimic What We See

A study in Sweden took participants and showed them photos of people who were sad, happy, angry, and other emotions. And then they showed them someone who was smiling and asked them to make a frown… and it was very hard to do. They wanted to smile when they saw a smiling face… it’s part of our hard wiring in our brain that goes back thousands of years. When we see someone smiling we smile back. It’s probably also a way to keep us out of trouble, thus when someone smiles we want to smile back.

Studies Show - We Can Create a Smile Connection in Our Brain

Studies show, that if we continue to smile we start to feel happy all the time… and thus it’s a fake it until you make it process. We build a neuronal pathway in our brain, and that pathway is strengthened every time we smile and see someone else smiling and thus we start feeling happy all the time.

Studies Show - We Become Healthier When We Smile

And studies show, that when we get rid of stress when we get rid of all the adrenaline, cortisol, and fight or flight chemicals in our body by simply smiling we become healthier. Stress is the biggest killer in the world and anything that can help us to get rid of stress is always welcome and makes us healthier. We have millions of studies showing that when we lower our stress we become healthier. This is a scientific fact now… not just metaphysics.

Case Study Conclusion - Smile and Be Happy and Create a Happier World

The conclusion of all this…

Smile and be happy and healthy and make others happy and healthy… it’s that simple.

I leave you with a quote by one of my favorite people who I miss dearly.

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn life around.” — Leo Buscaglia

PS - I told those two people in the mall that I loved their smile!

Many Blessings to Everyone!
