Take Action

Einstein said "Nothing happens until something moves" This applies to physics and to our personal lives. All the good intentions, planning, goals, and concepts don't mean anything until you take action. As important as these things are, nothing will happen until you move. You will stay in a state of inertia until you act. Another law of physics says that more energy is needed to move a stationary object than is required for one that is already moving. That is part of the law of inertia, which states that “A body in motion tends to remain in motion, a body at rest tends to remain at rest.”
If you are stuck "trying" to get something done, or take action, or accomplish some goal, here is something you can do. This is a little different from a lot of advice, but it is just another way of getting to where you want to be. Give yourself "process" markers. Plan your action around small steps. Instead of saying something like "I've got to get that report done by Friday", pla
"I will devote one hour at 9:00am tomorrow to work on my outline and major sources of reference as well as write the first paragraph which gives the overview. Before I quit I will schedule the time for the next day knowing what needs to be done by 5:00pm Thursday" Much more concrete and doable.
Instead of saying "I'm going to start that new course of study", say "I will spend 45 minutes at 3:00pm this afte
oon reading the first chapter" Measure your success by each step you take, not by falling short of the goal.
"I've got to start meditating/exercising/walking the dog(again)" changes to "Tomorrow morning, at 6:45am, I commit to 8 minutes of meditating/exercising/walking the dog" "I know I will do more eventually, but this will be a good start"
Don't be defeated and then avoid the large goal or wish. Find success in small steps in the direction you want to go and don't stop.
Remember, part of the law of inertia is “A body in motion tends to remain in motion". That's the good news.

About the Author
After completing graduate work in counseling psychology, I became the head counselor in a program for poverty level school dropouts. Later, when I married, and had my first child, I became dedicated to a career in business. I created and ran companies at both the retail and wholesale levels, with and without partners. I also served as a national marketing director for a manufacturing company.
Twice, I built companies to among the largest in the nation in their niche. Following that, I have worked as a small business advisor specializing in marketing and exit planning.
All during that time, I practiced meditation daily, led groups and taught individuals various spiritual practices. I also studied, practiced, and taught various “release” techniques. In the mid 90s, I graduated from CoachU to add those practical skills.
