Remember when you were a kid and you played Make-Believe? Remember how easy it was to Make Believe you were a famous singer or an astronaut or a brilliant painter? You could sit in any room or under a tree or in your sandbox and actually BE that person. You'd see it all as clearly as if you were there...all the smells and sights and noises crystal clear in your pretty little head. Easy as making mud pies. Remember?
I'm wondering why we stop doing it. I'm wondering why we think that just because we're 'grown-ups' we can't still sit under a tree and Make Believe. Just look at those words! MAKE BELIEVE. Do you see the implication here? Can you see just how powerful that phrase is?
When you Make Believe you literally make what you believe (to) BE. You create whatever it is in your mind's eye so clearly that you forget it's not 'real'. In that forgetting, you plant the seed of creation, grow it with your energy (love!) and pretty soon...it's HERE. It shows up just the way you envisioned it. It has gone from Make Believe to Living Belief. Sounds like a pretty simple concept. Almost too simple. Because, let's face it, more often than not, people are averse to 'simple' being the answer to anything. If it's that simple, it can't possible work.
Really?
Think about this: What would we do without the wheel? I know, I know...such a silly and over-used example. But think about it! The wheel completely changed the way humans live. Life wouldn’t be the same without the wheel. It was said to be invented by the Mesopotamians in 4th century BC, eventually helping usher about the Bronze Age. Starting from wooden carts and wagons, the simple yet so very useful device evolved over time. With so many uses and applications, it is forever part of the human race, and one of the first steps to civilization. Can you imagine being unable to take a taxi to your hotel instead footing several miles with tons of bags? Or spending an hour walking to get to the grocery store? Or hauling dirt from here to there?
How do you suppose such a simple invention came to be? How do you think it started...before it was actually created? Yep. You guessed it. It began as an idea...a thought. And then...it WAS.
I know this is all very fundamental stuff. But I think it bears reminding...because I also know there are lots of people who dismiss the idea of Make Believe. I'm thinking you ought to give it a try...again. And see how much fun it can be to Make Believe.
{And if you feel foolish about it, go sit in a closet. No one will ever know!}
