As we get older our bodies naturally change. The skin goes through dramatic changes as it ages, becoming thinner and dryer. Fat accumulations in the face around the cheeks and lips decrease, and this leads to a more sunken, aged appearance. There are some things that you can do though to plump up the skin, decrease wrinkles and get back that healthier, younger look you desire.
Cosmetic surgeons have for years been taking fat out of one area of the body, and injecting it into another. This is done sometimes on the cheeks and lips to give the face back that full, round, youthful appearance. Some of the downfalls to this route though include the high cost, pain (and downtime), as well as often an unnatural look.
Other injections that people use on the face for plumping up the skin are fillers. While there are a variety of different fillers, in recent years restylane has become regarded as the best as it seems to give the skin the most natural look and last the longest – often up to 9 months! Restylane consists mainly of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the skin that is injected into the middles layers of the derma. While fillers such as this have been found to be very effective, and usually give a fairly natural look, they are very expensive (often up to the $800-1,000 range).
Hyaluronic acid itself has been used in skin care products for many years. Hyaluronic acid is one of the main components of the skin, making up the space between skin cells, and responsible for retaining moisture, as well as supplying nutrients and disposing of waste for the cells. While hyaluronic acid is clearly vital for the skin, and does a great job plumping it up, many people question whether applied topically it truly is able to fully penetrate the deep layers of the skin. Regardless, hyaluronic acid does a fantastic job of softening the skin, and is a great ingredient featured in many of the best skin care products.
Sodium hyaluronate, the salt of hyaluronic acid, is much denser, and able to penetrate the deeper layers of the skin more effectively than hyaluronic acid alone. Sodium hyaluronate is very effective at plumping up the skin when applied topically, and should definitely be utilized in your anti-aging skin care routine. It can be found in many cleansers, serums and creams on the market.
There are many options for dealing with aging skin each with its own pros and cons. There is no way to really say what is best for everyone, as what works great for one, might not work well for another. Take the time to learn your options to figure out what might be the best fit for you.

Understanding the stabilizing role of ferulic acid in vitamin C formulations
In the realm of skincare, the use of vitamin C has been a cornerstone for its antioxidant properties, essential for neutralizing harmful free radicals, and its role in collagen synthesis, crucial for maintaining skin elasticity and firmness. However, vitamin C, particularly in its most potent form, L-ascorbic acid, is notorious for its instability when exposed to light and air, leading to a rapid loss of its skin-benefiting properties.
