The Complete Description Of Resale Rights
Written by Jo Mark
Resale rights are a hot item right now. These types of products make it easy for you to set up your own Internet business with ready-made products to sell without going through the trouble of creating your own. However, products are available with many different types of rights; basic resale rights, master resale rights, private label rights and numerous others. Some products come automatically with some sort of rights. Others give you the option to purchase rights to that product separately for a higher price. Due to their similarity, there is a great deal of confusion as to what these rights are, and what they allow you to do. Following is a list of the more common rights and some information on each one.
Basic Resale Rights:
If you have a product with Basic Resale Rights, you can resell the product to others, but your buyers are not permitted to resell the product. In addition, you must sell the product as is. You are not permitted to make any changes to a product with Basic Resale Rights.
Master Resell Rights:
Products with Master Resell Rights, also known as Master Resale Rights, are more desirable than those with Basic Resale rights because you can sell the product to others and your customers can also resell the product. Using products with Master resale rights, your customers are not only those who want the information in your report, but people who are seeking a product to sell as well. These types of products provide with a much larger pool of potential buyers than products that include just basic rights. You are not permitted to make any changes to a product with Master Resale Rights.
Giveaway Rights:
This one is kind of obvious. As the name suggests, you can give away this type of product for free. You can give it away as a bonus; list building incentive, or whatever you choose. However, you cannot sell a product with Giveaway Rights. And, like the items above, you are not permitted to make any changes to a product with Giveaway Rights.
Private Label Rights:
Products with Private Label Rights, also known as PLR, allow you to sell the product as is or change the content in any way you wish. In many cases, you can even add your name as the author of the work. However, before you do this, you should check with the original author to ensure that this is allowed. You can either sell it or give it away, whichever you choose.
Rebranding Rights:
Products with Rebranding Rights allow you to change some of the links in a document. In most cases, you can add your own affiliate links, but you are not permitted to change anything in the main document.
Royalty Rights:
Royalty Rights are usually associated with physical products. Products with Royalty Rights allow you to resell the product, but you are required to pay the originator a royalty, or commission on each sale you generate.
Source Code Rights:
Source Code Rights are normally associated with software. Products with Source Code Rights allow you to alter the product’s source code to customize it with your own preferences before selling it to your customers.
That’s a summary of the more common rights associated with Internet type products. Always read the license agreement thoroughly to see exactly what you can and cannot do with a particular product. If you are uncertain about your rights, contact the originator of the product for confirmation before attempting to change or resell the product.
