I am talking about the differences between the sports MMA and karate.
I have been doing MMA for about a year. It has become my favorite sport, and I think it has a lot of differences from karate. In MMA you learn a variety of techniques. You learn both strikes and how to grapple on the ground. MMA stands for mixed martial arts. It is called this because you use element from Jujitsu, Kick Boxing, Wrestling, Karate, and Taekwondo. Each of these types of combat has their own strengths.
In MMA you try to leverage the best from all of them.
I used to do Taekwondo, but I don't remember much, and I don't think it really helped me with my grappling. Karate means empty hand. I personally think MMA is more useful because I don't know where you could use those karate moves in a fight because if you tried to punch, then somebody would quickly take you down. I think Karate is more like dancing and performing open forms then training for real combat.
I still have respect for people that prefer this kind of sport but think it is much less practical tha
MMA.
I have been in two grappling competitions. The company that hosts it usually does it at the Mckay events Center in Orem, Utah. The competitions I have been in I have gotten second, and third place. I messed up the last competition, and got caught in an arm bar. I have been in no-gi, and Gi. A gi is the white clothing you wear when you are in a Jujitsu class. There are more people in gi so that's why we are going to enter for the next competition. I am starting to get a little bit nervous because it is coming up next week.
I go to a MMA training facility called The Academy It is located in Fort Worth, Texas.
The best teacher that has taught me is Adam Legolus. He is the owner of the whole place, and he is the best teacher. He has two boys named gunner and Cooper. They have been doing MMA for 5 years. They are both very very good.
Recently, one of my teacher's got into the UFC his name is Court Mcgee. I think he is going to be one of the most successful fighters ever. MMA is the best sport I have ever done!
