The Diplomat of the Zodiac: Venus the Planet of Taste and Harmony

Another article on the planets-taking a look at Venus, second of the tool planets. I will be describing what this planet represents in us and how we use it in life.

Venus the Planet of Taste and Harmony

Venus represents the feminine side of our nature, where she constantly works to create, find and restore balance in our lives. This is the planet of aesthetic taste,of blending things to create comfortable surroundings, beautiful objects,delicious food and harmonious relationships. She wants to live in harmony with everyone and everything and feels uneasy and threatened by discord. The diplomat of the Zodiac she works to smooth over,to bring in compromise and to find peaceful solutions so that harmony can be restored in life. A Planet of social etiquette,she adds a sense of refinement to any planet she touches or house she inhibits.

Venus is not all sweetness and light!

Although portrayed as the planet of beauty and harmony, even Venus has her negative side. She can easily put on a sweet smile just to exchange social pleasantries. She is the one that can be nice to your face and yet can criticise you behind your back. Certainly not a direct assertive energy, she will however use her charm to manipulate, (albeit very nicely) to get what or who she want. She is very much a, ‘come into my parlour said the spider to the fly’, type of energy. Another weakness of Venus is vanity and she will do anything to look good and she may well flatter or tell you what you want to hear in order to ingratiate herself.

Venus, the feminine Libido

Opposite to Mars, which is the male libido, Venus will use all of her charm and sexuality to attract her mate. She will do her best to look attractive and often will be adapt at becoming what her mate desires. Venus, more than any other planet,knows how to use the law of attraction, which she can employ with great efficiency. In searching for her mate she looks for one that can complement her,or working subconsciously, she may attract someone who will fulfil any sense of lack she has in herself. Being a planet of balance,if she is too soft and gentle she may seek a partner who will stick up for her or someone contrary to her own nature who can dominate and control. Opposites attract after all!!

Venus In the Male

Although,because she is a female planet,I refer to Venus as ‘she’ and ‘her’ men also possess this energy. They too, will use this tool to attract their mate. Some with a strong Mars or Sun (the ‘me Tarzan, you Jane’ type) will be more direct about it, but the softer romantics type will use his feminine side to think what would please,attract or enchant someone he is attracted to.
You often see a rich and powerful man marry a beautiful woman; they are both using their Venus. This planet love glamour and beautiful surrounding with all the comfort that life can offer. The woman then receives this by her marriage and the male gains another possession to show off.
The male also uses his Venus when being creative. A gardener,a chef,a joiner,a dancer or an architect are just a few examples of men using their female side. They too can be the diplomatic and strive to create peace and harmony in their home,work or community.

The Balance of Male and Female.

ed,I have often thought that it must be more difficult being a man than a woman. The archetype of female and Venus are very much intertwined and it is therefore very natural for a woman to use her Venus. It is acceptable for women to admit to being frightened,of being timid or to say,‘no I don’t want to’,whereas the male has to be seen to be strong, assertive and to fear little. There are many sensitive men who pretend to be full of bravado to put on their ‘maleness’. Those who don’t are considered weak or soft, and often their creativity goes unnoticed. This was more in evidence in the past. Now,as we grow through evolution the male and female roles are not so opposing. We are now learning to integrate these energies within ourselves,were the man and women begin to own their own opposing energies instead of projecting them into their partners. This gives a greater sense of our own creativity and wholeness.
Venus, the Part she Plays

The very essence of Venus is the feminine energy within us, she is our tool for attracting what we want and need in our lives in ways of peace, comfort, harmony and beauty. She is also our sense of taste as we select and choose what is good, what we like and what suits and complements our nature. When we make a delicious meal,create a warm and loving home, work at looking our best,settle a dispute, seek a mate,or put on our social face and etiquette,we are then operating from our Venus, our female quality.
