The First Step in Attracting Your Ideal Clients

We talk a lot about attracting in our ideal clients or our target market, but have you taken the time to work out the specifics? By the specifics I mean what your ideal client looks like, thinks like, acts like, wants in life and so on? Have you been specific and let the Universe know who to bring you? Or are you willing to work with anyone who comes along?

I know as heart based people we do have this feeling of wanting to help the whole world, but there are specific groups of people that are going to work better with you than with anyone else in the world.

It works in just the same way as a romantic relationship, not every man is cut out to be with every woman in the world, and vice versa. Certain character traits, belief systems, values, physical characteristics, even habits, are more compatible with a certain person than with another and make for a more harmonious, fulfilling relationship.

And so it is with working with our ideal clients. When we are working with those people that we really resonate with, our hearts sing, we feel totally fulfilled because we are doing what we love and helping people we (dare I say it) love too. Once again, just like a romantic relationship.

So how do we attract in these wonderful, loving clients, these people who love to spend time and money with us? Well basically in much the same way we attract in our romantic partners, by being ourselves, by coming from the heart, by slowly getting to know them, and building up that sacred relationship.

The very first step in creating this relationship is to make a list of the qualities your ideal client possesses. This is about being specific and letting the Universe know who you are looking for so that he/she can be delivered to you. And if you are struggling with knowing who you do want, start with the list of who you don’t want, that is always easier, go back in time and list the qualities of your nightmare clients you have had, or the ones that you knew you never wanted to work with again.

Once you have made your ideal client list, the one with all the qualities you are looking for, take a good look at it and then ask yourself who you need to be to attract in that ideal client. Because remember, like attracts like.

So if you are asking for clients that are willing to invest in themselves, ask yourself where are you investing in yourself? If you are asking for clients that are willing to take a risk, where are you willing to take a risk? If you are asking for clients who are committed to making a change and to do whatever it takes, is that what you are doing?

I made my list of the qualities my ideal client possesses a long time ago, and I’ve had to make quite a few changes myself. I found that actually making the list helped me get clear on where I was just settling and where I needed to step out of my comfort zone and stretch myself to achieve that which I was asking of my clients.

When I look at the list now I can see how the changes I have made have really changed the type of client I am attracting into my business today. Today I get to work with clients I want to work with and not just those that happen along.

So I encourage you to do the same. Make the list and then ask yourself where you need to make the changes to bring in those ideal clients, those people who are waiting for you to step into your greatness, so that you can help them into theirs.

This is not an ove
ight process, but a work in progress. Your list can be refined forever more, as can you. So take the first step, make a list, and let the Universe know who to bring you so that you can start creating those harmonious relationships.
