According to Ancient Greek mythology, a phoenix is an omnipotent bird that ete
ally regenerates and is forever reborn. The phoenix is associated with the sun, and obtains its new life by rising above the ashes from the fire of its previous existence.
The phoenix is often pictured with a nimbus, a halo above its head, which symbolizes the birds heavenly connection to the sun. Ancient images of the phoenix often beamed with nimbuses often having seven rays, similar to that of the sun god "Helios".
Even though the bird was recorded as being magically vibrant and colorful, there are many different versions as to the exact hue. One of the most popular beliefs was that the bird boasted red and yellow feathers and wings.
In later years, many other civilizations adopted their distinct version of the phoenix bird, creating whatever legends and folklore they perceived to be relevant in their own specific culture.
Indeed, the phoenix is a mythical bird that never dies, and continues to inspire various cultures and individuals spiritually.
