Submitter's Note:
This new article (in point form), extracted from a chapter from my manuscript 'Steps to Success, Prosperity and Happiness' is based on an excellent motivational, up-lifting and inspiring book 'THE MAGIC OF THINKING BIG' by David Schwartz. I am sharing my summary of some of the contents of this excellent work (what I consider to be the main points) in the spirit of encouraging and hopefully even inspiring those people, who really want to achieve their fullest potentials to read the book...and THINK BIG in your life, then watch what happens. You'll surprise yourself!
"We share what we know, so that we all may grow."

THE MAGIC OF THINKING BIG by David Schwartz (PART THREE)
"If you don't like the news, go out and make some of your own."
- US newsman Wes Nisker in his final broadcast
* TO THINK BIG, use words and phrases which produce big, positive and uplifting mental images. For example, instead of thinking of failure, try a new approach...try to see a successful outcome to your endeavours and use positive words.
* Look ahead to the future with optimism. See what can be, not just what is...think big by visualising what can be done in the future. Your future doesn't have to be the same as your past. Look at the person you are going to be in a few years time - not the person you are NOW. Unless you are totally happy with the way you are!
* Be receptive to new ideas. Write them down.
* Add value to things, to people and especially yourself. See the good in people, things and yourself...and particularly your life as a whole.
* In all areas of life try to see the BIG PICTURE. Don't worry about the trivialities of life ("don't major in minors"). Get the THINKING BIG view of your job, as well as your life. I think many potentially powerful people and people, who could have achieved far more in their lives let small, petty, insignificant things (don't those words all mean the same?) block their way to significant achievement. Remember "SNIOP" - don't be susceptible to the negative influences of other people. Avoid the "prophets of doom", who say "you'll never ever make it". Always think BIG. It is better to start small and grow big, than starting big and growing smaller and smaller (in love and in business, eg. your office)
*
WHAT ELSE CAN YOU DO?
1. Don't have an inferiority complex. There's no need for that.
2. Use the big thinkers vocabulary: employ big, bright and cheerful words. Use ones that promise hope, victory, happiness and pleasure. Avoid words that are associated with unpleasant images, eg. failure, defeat or grief.
3. Look at things not as they are, but as they can be.
Stretch your vision...nothing else please! See what can be, not just what is. As I've mentioned before, practice adding value to things, to people and yourself. Visualisation about the final outcome (or end-product) also adds value. Everything that has ever been made started from a spark of an idea in someone's mind and has had a great deal of care, thought and IMAGINATION put into it. Not just labour, but a little bit of that craftsmen. Especially this work. Use your IMAGINATION and see the world as an artist sees it. Remember Rodin's words:
"We will be truly happy, when we can all see the world as artists"...or "have the souls of artists" , or something like that anyway.
4. Get the BIG view of your job. Try to get the overall picture looking at it from on high (no matter how low in life you may be or think you are). Think, really "tink" your present job is important. Even if you are at the bottom of the barrel. No matter that you are on the lowest rung, that next promotion depends mostly on how you think towards your present job, ie. ATTITUDE. Not again!
5. Don't just think above trivial things. Get the BIG PICTURE - focus your attention on big objectives. Before getting involved in a petty matter, ask yourself if it is really that important. How important will it really be in a week's, month's, year's or five year's time?
A final thought...
What kind of person are you? I don't think we all fit neatly into "designated compartments" - because we're all so different. Great! I'm not at all a 'detail person' (a person who counts the nuts and bolts), so I'll never make a good clerk or accountant. Hopeless! When I design a bridge, I'll see the grand plan in its totality, the finished product in my mind...but it'll probably fall down after the first car has driven over it. Unless I get someone to organise it all for me!
Finally (at last)...
PREPARE fFOR SUCCESS. Put in the "hard yards" (WORK) NOW and expect to get positive results from your endeavours in the days to come.
IT PAYS IN EVERY WAY TO THINK BIG...
And we can ALL GROW BIG BY THINKING BIG!
And most importantly,
BE HAPPY as you travel the jou

P.S: Thank you sincerely, David for sharing your insight, words of wisdom and especially inspiration in encouraging me to "think big" in all areas of my life.
"Dreamer!"
"Man is mind
and evermore he takes the tool of thought
and, shaping what he wills,
brings forth a thousand joys,
a thousand ills.
He thinks in secret
and it comes to pass -
Environment is but his looking glass."

Thanks so much for sharing, dad
"Every man has his own destiny; the only imperative is to follow it, no matter where it leads him."
- Henry Miller
"Success to others may be apparent in what you DO; but significance, meaning and purpose lies, then reveals itself in what you ARE and BECOME down the 'river of life' - how and the spirit with which you face, then overcome the daily obstacles, the frequent trials and tribulations along the often rocky path-way of life's magical and mysterious jou
ey. Light your path brightly."
"Do not follow the well-beaten track of others towards success - like the rainbow, it is often an illusion always just beyond our reach. Make your own path and let your spirit blaze a brilliant trail towards the pot of gold, the prize for the gift - one that is uniquely you and YOUR successful jou
ey down the mysterious and magical river of life."
- craig
"When I let go of what (and who) I think I am, I become all that I can be... and am capable of being."
- craig (as adapted and inspired from Lao Tzu)
"The task ahead of you can always be overcome by the power within you...and the seemingly difficult path ahead of you is never as steep with the great spirit that lies within you."
Together, one mind, one life at a time, let's see how many people we can impact, empower, uplift, encourage ... and perhaps even inspire to reach their fullest potentials."
You make a living from what you get;
you make a life from what you give."
