The world of marketing has been changing over the last few months and in my humble opinion the new face of marketing is much friendlier than the previous one. This new paradigm, as many are calling it, works on the preface of collaboration rather than competition.
How great is that? You no longer have to watch your back, you don’t need to be watching what your so called “competitors” are doing, you don’t need to be getting into a price war and slashing your prices.
That doesn’t mean you don’t need to be aware of what is happening in your field, of course you do. In fact, the wisest and most profitable thing to do would be to team up and support your colleagues. What a fabulous way of keeping your finger on the pulse!
After all, being a heart based business owner, your priority is to offer the best service you can to your clients, and what better way to do that than by combining services and putting together packages that cover more than you could do on your own?
So this new paradigm offers the best of situations, the win-win-win. Your client is going to benefit because of the extra added services you can offer, your colleagues are going to win because they get access to your clients and can serve more people while making more money, and you win for the same reasons plus you make new friends ☺
Another great change we are seeing in this new style marketing is the emphasis on being authentic, being real, standing in the spotlight and showing your warts and all. Now this might feel somewhat uncomfortable at first, especially if you have some of the usual self sabotaging thoughts going on for you such as “I’m not good enough” for this, or “will they really want to work with me when they know who I really am?”
However, what I am seeing and experiencing for myself, is that there is great healing in uncovering the parts of you and your life that you feel your clients might not like or might disapprove of. In fact, the very parts of you that you are trying so hard to cover up are quite often just the parts that your ideal clients can relate to and need to see, hear or feel to know that you are the right person to work with.
Sharing your authentic personal story is incredibly powerful, this is where your ideal clients get to connect with you and recognise themselves in your story. If they can see that you too have struggled, and have an understanding of their problem, and that you have made the transformation and are now where they want to be, it is going to be so much easier for them to choose to work with you. You have what they want, you know the way, you can help them find the way.
So marketing is shifting, it is becoming much more aligned with the heart based entrepeneur, allowing you to be yourself and to support your colleagues. I encourage you to embrace this new way and start taking the steps on this new path.
