The Other Side : Life School Message

Dearest Darling Readers,

In life we are constantly making self judgments. We are all the time forming opinions or seeking support for our opinions. We are always interpreting events and non events, searching for meaning and wanting to join the dots.

We are all the time making decisions about what we will do and what we will not be able to do. We are all the time concluding what others will do and what they will not do. And yes, we assume, what others have done and what they have not done. This is what our ‘belief’ system is all about.

This belief system of ours contains everything we believe to be ‘True, false, appropriate, inappropriate, acceptable, unacceptable, justified, unjustified, right, wrong, doable and non-doable.

Wrong beliefs hold us back strongly. It limits us. It makes a bonsai out of a ‘possible’ banyan tree. What to do when you believe you are a banyan tree and others confidently express you are a bonsai? Simple….Be willing to listen to other’s opinion. Sometimes seeing things from other’s perspective lets you see / hear things differently. That by itself enables you.

Laxman went on a holiday to Rishikesh. On his first morning there, while others were still sleeping, he went out for a walk. He came to a river and saw another man on the opposite bank.

“Oh brother,” he shouted, “how can I get to the other side?”

The man on the other side, looked up the river then down the river then shouted back, ”You’re already on the other side.”

It sounds hilarious, doesn’t it? However, it is also profound.

Life and truth is often a matter of perspective and viewpoint.

Isn’t it true, many people are trying to get to the very side that you are already on while you are trying to get somewhere else? Who is right and who is wrong here.

Do you know many people wish they had a good husband or wife like you do? What do you believe?

Do you realize many couples wish they had the children you do? What do you think?

Do you know many people wish they had a body like you do? Do you like your body?

Do you know many people wish they just had enough money to pay their basic bills like you do?
Hmmmm, do you think you use your money well?

Do you realize many people wish they could have the life you already have? What do you wish?

Do you realize many people wish they had the work that you have? How do you look at your work?

Do you realize many people wish they could live like you? Do you live?

I, like most of you reading this, wish for many things.

I have a lot of dreams and visions.

“Perspective” really made me think and realize that with so many of the rivers of life,

I’m already on the “other” side.

So are you.

Even if you want to reach the other side, do not curse this side. Please…
