The Power of Affirmations

There has been a lot of talk about using positive affirmations in the last few years. But do they really work? Positive affirmations can be used to train your mind. They help to eliminate negative self-talk which can be very damaging. In my past articles I mentioned that we create our reality based on our thoughts. So if we are thinking negative thoughts, then obviously our life will reflect those thoughts. If we are thinking positive thoughts then our current and future reality will be a reflection of those thoughts. But, in my opinion, it is not just a matter of thinking positive thoughts alone that will make a change in our lives. So, what exactly are positive affirmations and how can we use them effectively? Affirmations are short, powerful conscious statements. Research has shown that we have approximately 50,000 thoughts a day, and for most people 80% of those thoughts are negative and come from our subconscious.
Affirmations make you conscious of your thoughts. To affirm something means to declare something that is true, regardless if it is positive or negative. By saying an affirmation, you are declaring what you want to be true. So, the first step in using positive affirmations is to decide what you would like to change in your life. Once you have decided on a change, then it is important to state your affirmation in the present, the now. Then ensure it is a powerful, positive statement in order to reverse past negative thoughts and influences. For an affirmation to really work, you must feel an emotional connection to the affirmation and be able to visualize yourself in that state. The best way to use an affirmation is to repeat it several times out loud while looking at yourself in a mirror. You can also write it out several times, or say it to yourself in your head. Here are some affirmations that you can use right now:
* I am healthy.
* My body heals quickly and easily.
* Every cell in my body is healthy and vital.
* I am full of radiant health and well-being.
* A constant stream of abundance flows to me now.
* I am a money magnet.
* I attract healthy relationships to me now.
* I am grateful for everything in my life.
* I accept myself and others fully.
Try out these affirmations or create your own. Let me know of the changes you see in your life as a result of using affirmations. Continue to live a light-filled life :)
