The Root Cause of Cravings and Addictions

Today I want to talk about a very important topic, which is constantly mentioned, but never deeply understood….
How many of us have not been in a situation in which we crave certain foods, certain feelings, emotions and relationships? How many of us have not developed certain addictions in order to compensate for that illusion of lack and loveliness?

Here is the deal…

You are a being as vast as the cosmos; you are a consciousness superimposed over All That Is. You are whole, infinite and have all the resources that you are looking for at your disposal right now. And it is when conditioning has stiffed our self-realization and passion for life that we are out of touch with ourselves and our magnificence. And when this happens, our body starts craving the light that we ourselves have been suppressing.

Cravings come from self-abandonment and suppressing the tones of our own being. And the solution we are looking for does not come from the exte
al sources that we are used to going after in order to find ourselves again. The solution comes from full self-precensing and singing the full Song of the Self.

From resisting looking freely at all that we are and are not yet expressing (which is All That Is), we have made space into something static. Our senses have fallen prey to interference because of the tendency to value or prefer certain things over another, and we have created a needy heart along with an obsessive mind that needs to know.

It is our incessant need to know and our need to be heard/seen/validated, that stifles our feelings, because when emotions scare us, we stifle and talk ourselves out of them or reframe them mentally. We then end up suppressed, which causes neediness in the heart.
In this case, it is only through surrendering that we give up the lower patterns, the needy heart’s demands and the mind’s obsessive need to know. When you continually surrender the lower patterns, the neediness, the negativity and the noisy mind, you become less and less dense, and life eventually becomes magical. Cravings fall away, addictions and bad habits, procrastination, emotionality, and so on...all these dissolve as you imbibe more and more light. When you surrender the lower patterns, they are then able to reform to higher faculties that support body evolution.

The more clarity and knowing you have, the more the density dissolves. And as density dissolves, the more you feel fluidity in everything and the easier it is to the surrender. Release the 'how do I surrender', and just notice the fixed beliefs moment by moment...remembering that you know nothing. Surrender is no longer needing to interpret in order to control or figure out, and instead just trusting that what you need to know will arise in perfect divine timing.

So, in summary:
Self-abandonment is the root of all addiction and cravings (to food, exercise, rigid rules, substance, distraction, etc). Addictions or programmed existence trap consciousness and resources, hindering one's ability to heal or evolve. The antidote to a life driven by addiction is full self-presencing, surrendering and acknowledging the Divinity of all life.
