The Secret of Success and Happiness

Let's face it that every person has got his own secret of success. By the way, what is your definition of success? There isn't a generally accepted meaning of the term 'being successful' because each person puts his own personal interpretation on what it means.

This isn't really surprising because every person has got his own opinions of what his goals in life are. In fact, one defines 'being successful' from his achievement(s). Some people say to be successful means one is happy. Being happy is a feeling and it is too personal. You're the one to decide whether to be happy or to be unhappy. Abraham Lincoln acknowledged that when he said and I quote him, "People are just as happy as they make up their minds to be." You see, I can do my best to make you feel happy but if you haven't decided to be happy my effort will turn out to be fruitless.

What makes one person happy may not even be of interest to another person. It is up to you to find out what truly makes you happy. Some people will quickly say that having a substantial amount of money will make them happy. Others say that happiness is helping people to be their best they can be in life while others say that happiness is much simpler than that. Neither answer is right or wrong. It is upon an individual to decide because being happy is a personal matter just like being successful is a subjective term.

My dear reader if you're that sort of person who perceives that you'll be happy if you have a lot of money or own several properties then you are very wrong. There is more to life apart from having money and owning properties.
Success could be the attainment of the goal you have for your business, your career and something you strive to overcome or achieve in your personal life so as to make your life better. Personally, my secret of success is setting goals, proper management of time, doing great work, being optimistic, following intuition, working hard, helping others, making good choices, seeking help from God and from people, taking each day at a time and doing all constructive things that will lead me to success.

Although financial security is a big part of being a successful person, I think it takes much more than that to live a happy life. There are plenty of other riches that we should always appreciate because they bring us authentic happiness. Such things include family, friends, fearing God etc. The love you have for others by helping them is another secret of living a happy life.

You should get a clear image of what success is before you attempt to achieve it or else you won't have a clear goal to shoot for. If you don't know where you're going you'll have a hard time getting there and actually you'll not get there. You'll never get to a destination which you don't know!

If you know exactly what you want in your life and also you make up your mind to be a happy person then you have found your personal definition of success. You're a unique individual and your secret of success is also unique. Someone else might not agree with your ideas that will lead you to success but don't let that bother you. You have only one life under the sun and you should live to its fullness. Go for it, don't hesitate!
