The year 1988 is remembered in the medical history as the year of the introduction of Minoxidil Rogaine as a solution for hair loss treatment. It was a prescribed drug but later innovations and research brought it the over the counter status in the year 1996.
During the last three decades in medical history, Rogaine has emerged as the most potent solution for the treatment of hair loss. The sale of this excellent formula has gone leaps and bounds in the recent past.
In the earliest days, Rogaine was identified as only a drug for treatment of high blood pressure and it was marketed under a different name. It worked by relaxing the blood vessels and allowing the blood to pass through more comfortably. While it use as a blood pressure treatment, a number of other effects of its usage were identified by the patients and doctors. These were both positive as well as negative. Hair growth, weight gain, increased heartbeat which is related to blood pressure and pain in the chest.
Of all the above affects, the most noteworthy was the hair growth. It gained further attention and later it began to be used as the hair growth solution in the forms of 2% and 5% solution which cut down the other harmful side effects of the solution.
It was also observed during various trials that Rogaine is equally effective for both the men and women. The 2% versions were suggested to women and men both while the 5% solution was suggested to only men. Women were told not to use the stronger version to avoid undesirable facial hair growth.
Besides this, the heart patients were suggested to use the solution only after consultation with their doctors. Today there are a number of forms of Minoxidil solutions available in the market. All of the forms, be it the solution or foam, they have to be massaged into the scalp on a daily basis for months. Initially it causes the loss of hair and after a few months, it magical effects come to the fore. Over usage might also cause skin irritation and therefore sensitive skins are not made for this solution.
