Here Are Some Recommendations For Developing Independent Business:

1. Discipline-Your best friend or your worst enemy - You choose. Put in regular hours.

2. Make sure people know what you do (e.g.Training, speaking, Consulting, etc.)

3. Get a mentor who has been successful in the business.

4. Prepare a 30 to 60 minute talk you can give to organizations and leave them
wanting more. Follow up any leads within 48 hours.

5. Join organizations (like your local Business Chamber) and become active. This
is one form of marking your services.

6. Write a newsletter. An online newsletter can be cost effective.

7. Write for trade jou
als or magazines. This will give you credibility in your
field.

8. Network! Network! Network! - Get involved in Social Media

9. Get on local radio and TV talk shows. Create a Web Page.
10 Hire a marketing person or someone to sell your programs.

11.Send out press releases on anything that is newsworthy that you have done.

12.Be consistent with your marketing. Have a plan of action and work the plan.

13.Take courses on sales, customer service, marketing and any other courses that enhance your business.

14.Realize that this is a long time process. It takes time to build your business.

15.Don't be afraid to fail. It is part of the learning process. Good sales people
fail every day. If you haven't failed, you haven't tried!
