Summary: Daniel was told to seal his book “till the time of the end,” but his book defines that time. His vision [chazon] of a ram and goat is at the time of the end, Daniel 8:17. Historians confirm the ram as the Medes and Persians conquered by Alexander the Great, but that was not the time of the end. The unsealed meaning is a double application for Daniel's prophecies—once in history, and again in end-times when the Medes and Persians are geographically Iraq and Iran.
The Bible says that God “declares the end from the beginning.” Isaiah 46:10. The book of beginnings supports the end-time application. Isaac was spared by a ram caught by its horns in a bush, Genesis 22.
Muslims teach that it was Ishmael who was spared. Which is the true holy book? The war with Iraq and an impending war with Iran (and victory supported by the Bible account) spares Isaac (father of Israel) by sacrificing a Muslim ram.
Some Bible details fit the end-time application better tha
Alexander's victory. The US coalition came “from the face of the whole earth” as the goat “touched not the ground.” It was primarily an air war as supported by Daniel 8:5, in contrast to Alexander who had no planes. Also the Battle of Arbela was 700 miles from where Daniel saw the action by the Ulai River (by Kuwait where US troops deployed).
The horn of Saddam Hussein has already been broken, leaving little doubt for those who trust the Bible, that the president of Iran will end similarly.
Unpacking this further, the US becomes great after stomping Iran, but then it's horn (of the goat) breaks (early death of Obama like Alexander the Great?) and four more horns spring up toward the four winds, with a marginal reference to Daniel 7 where four beasts arise.
Daniel 7 has interesting wording that also allows for an end-time application. Initially the four beasts arise out of the sea, but in the context of an end-time judgment scene, the four beasts are “four kings which shall arise out of the earth.” Daniel 7:17.
We should look for the lion with eagle's wings to represent the UK/US as allies. The bear would be Russia. The leopard with four heads could be China, Japan, Korea, Thailand. The dragon with 10 horns would be the European Union with the papacy as the “little horn” that becomes very great.
