Summary: We are at risk for a superficial understanding of Bible prophecy that applies to our time. The words of a popular song, “The Days of Elijah,” are discussed as an example.

A large roomful of Marines sing “The Days of Elijah” on Youtube. It is linked below for readers who might want to watch. Let's look the words of the song in italics with a brief discussion fo some points.

These are the days of Elijah, declaring the Word of the LORD and these are the days of His servant, Moses, righteousness being restored and though these are the days of great trial, of famine and darkness and sword,
still we are the voice in the desert, crying Prepare ye the way of the LORD,

So far so good—Elijah and Moses come in the context of Revelation 11:3 when God gives power to His two witnesses. They shut the heavens (like Elijah caused drought) and turn water to blood as Moses did, and yes, we may participate in this by praying for God's judgments to turn His people to Him. The drought at this time is probably economic as “All green grass was burnt up.” Rev 8:7 is decoded by James 1:9-11 in the King James Bible where “as the flower of the grass, so shall the rich man fade.” (No more riches!)

This meaning also fits Moses' time in Egypt when God afflicted the gods of Egypt, like the Nile, cattle. We worship (give excess worth ship) to money and the things it will buy.

Behold He comes, riding on a cloud, shining like the sun at the trumpet call, Lift your voice; it's the year of jubilee, out of Zion hill salvation comes

Oops! The next coming is not “riding on a cloud, shining like the sun at the trumpet call.” It's the coming like God came to Egypt and “executed judgment” (Exodus 12:12) and took His people to a covenant relationship, later saying, “I am married to you,” Jeremiah 3:14.
This explains Christ's wedding parables and is the reason for the imagery of asleep with lights out in Matthew 25:5, because we haven't understood we can marry Christ by making a covenant if we are ready promptly when He comes, not riding in the cloud, but with a midnight cry (Matthew 25:6) that links to the first midnight cry as a judgment calamity fell on Egypt.

But “judgment begins at the house of God” 1Peter 4:17. The calamity that's coming will fall on America or a segment of America—a church body. For reasons beyond the scope of this article, it could be Adventism for reasons explained at https://thebridegroomcomes.wordpress.com/2015/06/19/four-reasons-why-jonahs-message-of-judgment-in-40-days-could-fit-adventisms-loma-linda/

And these are the days of Ezekiel, the dry bones becoming as flesh, and these are the days of your servant, David, rebuilding a temple of praise,
and these are the days of the harvest, the fields are as white in your world, We are the laborers in your vineyard, declaring the Word of the LORD

The dry bones becoming as flesh is in the context of an Exodus2 in the previous chapter, Ezek 36:24-28 and the dry bones that come together and get life are Jews who accept the Messiah and Christians who accept the law of Moses as shown in Malachi 4:4,5 and Matthew 17:11 and make a covenant w Christ.

Behold He comes, riding on a cloud, shining like the sun at the trumpet call, Lift your voice; it's the year of jubilee, out of Zion hill salvation comes

There is no God like Jehovah; There is no God like Jehovah; There is no God like Jehovah; There is no God like Jehovah.
