This is what to do on the bad days, if you are choosing success

My computer quit on me… For no reason, it suddenly stopped working… And when your business is mostly carried out on your computer, that is not a great thing to have happen… And for a few hours there last night, I let myself feel fed up, frustrated, teary and like the world was going to end… (Did I mentio I can be the dramatic kind?) Yes, I started by doing all the things I would normally do to find a resolution to the issue – try and get the backplate off the computer and see what was wrong with it, drag my kids out to the local shop to get the tiniest screwdriver I could find, call Apple Support who could not help and finally… I had to accept that I could not fix it immediately so I just sat there, watching Scandal (My addiction of the moment) and tried not to cry (did not succeed!). And in those moments when things do not go to plan, I feel the pressure of staying on track… I feel the pressure of choosing to be a leader even when I just want to be a ‘norm’… And it is not easy. The life of an entrepreneur is not easy… It can be full of doubts, fears, mini and major challenges… It is confrontational and it is full of heat as the layers of passivity are burnt off you… There is nowhere to hide, if you really do want to live life on your terms… And not many can stand the heat and so they quit, they turn back to being a ‘norm’… And for us, the ones who remain in the fray, there is a tendency to feel alone in it. And that is why I share this… Right now, you may be going through hell as you choose to build a business that makes you a lot of money and that gives you freedom… Right now, you may be surrounded by ‘norms’ who do not understand why you keep pushing… Right now, you may want to lie down, hide under the blanky and indulge in huge boxes of chocolate, junk food and alcohol to drown out the internal pressure to be all that you can be… And I say to you… Give in… but not for too long! Have a few moments of indulgence but do not allow yourself to stay there forever. You and I KNOW that there is always a temptation to just be ‘normal’ and quit so you know that if you stay in this place of indulgence, it is as good as saying goodbye to your dreams. Give in to the emotional tension for a few minutes, or hours but that is it! 2. Do The Work This is not necessarily what you want to hear but if you want the result, it will always come down to doing the work. And you have to do it, despite the pain, the fear, the self doubt… So, start to figure out what you can do to find a resolution. Sometimes, there is nothing you can do directly about the situation at hand (like my computer) but there will always be next steps to take while you wait. I personally hate waiting… I want to be in action resolving issues but at times, there really is nothing direct that you can do so find a way around it, until you can resolve it. For instance, with my computer saga, I cannot fix the computer so I choose to use one of the other ones in the house until I can get it fixed… (If you are an internet entrepreneur, you know that your computer is like no other computer so it is irritating to have to use someone else’s! but it has got to be done) Maybe for you, it is a money issue – Worrying about the money issue, will not fix the money issue! It is action to create wealth that will. So, ask yourself what the next steps are and focus on taking them to the exclusion of everything else, if necessary. 3. Get Support Who do you turn to when things feel hard? Who gets your mind in the right place to keep moving forward? If you are serious about the result you want, then do not try to do this journey alone. Have a coach, mentor, mastermind group that keeps you accountable and keeps your head in the game.
