Sir Lawrence Olivier, British actor and director, said, “I have to act to live.”
Sir Lawrence Olivier had gotten so good at professional acting that he loved what he did. That type of “love” occurs when someone becomes one with what they are doing. No one has the ability to become that good at everything, but everyone has the talent to become extremely good at something.
Where most people get sidetrack is following the crowd. Rather than stand tall for what they want, they bend in favor of other people’s desires and opinions. Opinions are outright guesses. This explains why some people dance around the obvious when their ways aren’t working. So fearful of being wrong they wear “fake-it-till-you-make-it” smiles while denying the obvious.
Joel Goldsmith, American author, said, “We can often fool the person beside us, but never the person inside of us.”
Where people often error is looking at others, when the very person they should be looking at is themselves. It takes courage to look deeply into our eyes (in a mirror) and get totally honest. It takes courage to admit to ourselves and others that our answers aren’t working. And it takes even more courage to remove our masks.
Hosea Ballou, American theologian, said, “Falsehood is cowardice, the truth courage.”
The truth of you and the life you are living is that you already have everything needed to experience a full rewarding love filled life. However, it cannot be done by following the crowd and listening to other people’s opinions and fears.
Fears are beliefs in things that are false, opinions are guesses, and knowledge of truth is absolute power. Therefore, find time daily to read mind expanding and soul enriching books sharing universal truths.
Why? So you can learn what wise people have done to tune out the noise, ignore the chatter, and follow their hearts desire. Hearts know what minds cannot understand.
Kevin Armstrong, a friend of mine in Vancouver, B.C., recently sent me this:
“Be true to yourself … in the long run those who matter most in your life won’t mind, and those who mind won’t matter.”
Above all else, be true to yourself.
