Each of us comes into the word with the charge to discover our purpose. This discovery is the apex of our life and the achievement we should strive to reach. But, as with all good things in life, identification and implementation of our purpose can be an awesome task. Most never identify their purpose and therefore settle for a lot less than life offers them. They go to their graves with much of their music still inside; they finish their time in a state of perpetual inertia.

How can we achieve the maximum life has to offer us? The answer begins with goals. Goals get us in the mood to set new directions and to bring focus to our life. By setting goals, we can begin to discover our purpose.

As goals are set, build them around the talents you possess. Using your God-given talents to their fullest is one of life’s most satisfying moments. By combining our ambitions and our talents, we develop a win-win formula. When thinking about what types of goals to set, dream big. Don’t consider constraints. Don’t consider obstacles; just dream. Close your eyes and visualize what it would feel like to reach your goals. Feel the emotion. Feel the joy accomplishment brings.

If you can go through the process just described, you can achieve whatever you conceptualize. We are not tested with a strong emotional vision without the ability to bring that vision into reality. Develop goals and you can have the opportunity to live your plan. The alte
ative is to live the plan of others. What choice will you make?

My second point deals with the most misunderstood law of the universe. It is a law that people constantly try to violate but always pay the price for their foolishness. Professional speaker, Brian Tracy, reduces this law into its simplest term. He says, “Everything Counts.” The Bible says, “As ye sow, so shall ye reap.” Remembering this law gives value to every moment of our life. Fully understanding this law heightens our thinking so that we evaluate every action. Reaching our purpose demands that we set goals. But, reaching our purpose also demands that we create the proper actions needed to reach our goals. By making every action count, we can more quickly reach our dreams and avoid wasting our time and our life.

The final point relates to the idea of continuous learning. For the professional, school is never out. By making life a continuous learning experience, we gain insights into how to better reach our purpose. Learning creates the ability to make every day better then the previous one. On the other hand, the recipe for perpetual ignorance is to be satisfied with our opinions and content with our knowledge.

Study your job every day. Spending an hour a day in study on a subject can, in a few years, make you an expert on that subject matter. Study prepares you for opportunities. Opportunities prepare you to better reach your goals. Reaching your goals is a sure way to fully define and reach our purpose. Not a bad way to live a life!
