Feeling run down? Tired? While on your self-improvement journey, if you feel really run down or tired, you may find there is an old belief or behavior pattern that is out of sync with who you are becoming.
Your natural state of being is vibrant, excited and happy to be alive, but there are times when you can feel run down and worn out. This does not mean that you are lazy, slow, incapable or unfit for the tasks in your life; it may simply mean that you need to recharge your batteries and then find a way to keep them charged. A good multi-vitamin and extra rest (optimally 6 - 8 hours each night) can be very helpful in restoring your physical body...but if you are willing to dig deeper, you just may discover that there is an underlying cause for your feelings of exhaustion.
Whenever you're feeling run down, take an honest (and sometimes hard) look at how you've been thinking, feeling and acting. You may find that there is an old belief, behavior pattern or even a relationship that is out of alignment with who you really are, and who you are working to become.
Perhaps you believe you have to be perfect at everything or you have been bending over backwards to get certain people (or a group of people) to like you. Maybe you are dealing with mild depression or you simply have put (or allowed) too much to be added to your plate right now. There may be people or situations you're dealing with that are draining your energy. Once you get down to the root cause, you can weed it out and better direct your flow of energy in the future.
In time, you may notice that the reasons you feel run down have less to do with how much you are doing and are more closely related to what is in your heart. Would you rather be doing something else entirely? Something totally different from what is currently taking up your time and crowding your schedule?
From now on, intentionally seek to hear what your heart really wants. It may take meditation, a moment of silent tuning in, or perhaps jou
aling to gain the clarity and insight you need, but it is well worth the effort. When you know what it is you truly want to do, and put intention, energy and effort behind that in all situations, you will find that getting run down will become a thing of the past.
