It is no secret that there is a very positive craze that is sweeping the nation’s view on food, and that craze is eating healthier foods. It seems more and more that America seems to be growing conscientious of its health, and that is no surprise considering the levels of obesity and other health related issues.
There is a lot of wisdom in this new craze, as it is important to start eating healthy foods; however, for some of us that may be very difficult. That being said, there are a couple things you can do to start creating healthier meals.
One thing you may want to consider is substituting low-fat or nonfat dairy products for your full-fat dairy products. While there may be something of a taste and texture difference, it really is not too bad considering the many positive results you can achieve by doing so.
Another thing you can do is substitute low-fat or nonfat mayonnaise for your regular mayonnaise. You can also do the same thing with your low-fat or nonfat salad dressings.
There are also many options when it comes to finding low-fat options for your meat. Instead of buying ground beef, you can try ground turkey, and you can also favor the lighter meat over the darker meat in your poultry.
Also, when sauteing, you can try using olive oil and canola oil over butter, as both olive oil and canola oil contain monounsaturated fats. This is a healthier option than unsaturated fats.
Although you may not be used to it, if you are trying to cut down on carbs, you can use lettuce rather than bread for sandwiches or wraps. You can roll up your favorite low-fat cheese and lean meat with some mustard in a Romaine lettuce leaf to create a carb-free wrap.
One more thing you might want to try is, instead of using full fat cheese or croutons to decorate your salad, use healthier options such as hard-cooked egg whites and walnuts. It may be a little different, but it is still a very good alte
ative.
Finally, avoid processed foods. Stay away from anything made with white flour, sugar, and hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated fats, which are mostly found in prepared meals.
For some people this may be a big lifestyle change, but it is definitely a step in the right direction. This does not, however, mean you cannot cook delicious foods, as there are many different options. So get to your kitchen, and prepare and eat foods that will benefit you.

Pleasure vs. Pain
When I listen to a speaker, even if I get just one or two things from them, it’s a success. I don’t expect you to do everything I say, just take the things that work for you. Take a few nuggets and apply them to your life and you’ll start seeing dramatic results. Now the name of this article is Pleasure vs. Pain. If you think about it, there are really only two reasons why we do anything, either it is pleasurable or it is painful. If things cause pleasure, that’s what we tend to move toward. If it causes pain, we move away from it.
