If you are on a low carbohydrates diet at the moment and are struggling at times to maintain your discipline and keep to the diet, take comfort knowing that it actually does not to be as regimental as you think it is. The following are four of the most commonly used techniques used by successful low carbohydrates dieters.
First of all, you can and should ideally have some high carbohydrates day as well. Even on your current diet, you should not restrict having a high carbohydrate binge at least once every fortnight. When you suddenly stopped your usual diet from the past, your body will still eventually hit a plateau, so by having several days in the month where you take higher levels of carbohydrates, you will help ensure that plateaus will not happen to you.
When you just started on your low carbohydrates diet, your body will be low on muscle glycogen, which is what gives you strength during long workout sessions. Therefore, you can maintain the intensity of your workouts but reduce the amount of time you spend for each workout. When you are at least a month into your diet, you can increase the intensity more, as you will have been used to the lower levels of muscle glycogen when exercising.
Thirdly, you should always keep yourself hydrated. Low carbohydrates diets can make you feel thirstier during the day, and drinking plenty of water will help make it better. Also, most people tend to confuse the feeling of thirst with hunger and eat up over-eating instead.
You should also stock up on and take more vegetables! Vegetables are packed with nutrients and vitamins, with very little calorie content. They can be enjoyed as a side dish. Add some fresh prawns or potatoes with ground black pepper and you will have a great dish! Eating lots of vegetables will make you feel fuller, providing your muscle tissue with the essential nutrients needed for working out
In a nutshell, if you are on a low carbohydrates diet, try implementing the above four simple dieting tips. It is easy to step away from your current highly regimental diet and mix it up with the infrequent high carbohydrates day. Take plenty of vegetables and water to keep yourself healthy and help suppress your appetite. Having good discipline is a good trait when it comes to losing weight, but there are ways to make your dieting more fun yet still effective as well!
