Is your online business failing to bring you clients? If so, it may be time to change up your game plan. Let’s take a look at the top 7 reasons why your online business is not bringing you enough paying clients.

7. Design and Outlook

One on the top 7 reasons why your online business is not bringing you enough paying clients is because of your design. The design of your website is what will initially attract your potential client’s attention, so it is important that you design your website well. Unfortunately, many small businesses do not put enough time and effort into their website’s design. It is often too complex, too simple, or unprofessional looking. If you want to capture your audience’s attention, you need to put added effort into your design.

6. Message

Another problem that many small businesses have when designing their website deals with the content of the website. The message of the website should be clear, concise, interesting, and informative. Many small business owners have a difficult time balancing these 4 things. They either include too much information or not enough information, make their information too boring, or are not clear in their message. If you want to attract customers, you need to work on creating a good balance between these four things and create a message that will keep your clients interested.

5. Target Market

Number five of the top 7 reasons why your online business is not bringing you enough paying clients is because of the target market. Many times, businesses target to the wrong market. If, for example, your target market is teenagers and you are posting all of your backlinks in parent related blogs or websites, you are not going to get too many clients. Know your target market, create information that is interesting and relevant to them, and market in places that will attract those clients.

4. Communication

One of the major reasons that online businesses fail to bring in paying clients is because they do not keep in touch. Creating a website is not enough. Your website must be updated regularly and clients must know that they can contact you when needed. How do you keep in touch with your clients, prospects and business partners? Remember, it’s your job to remind them that you’re in business.

3. Follow up

Another mistake that online business owners make is failing to follow up. If a client posts a question or comment on your website, or emails you, always follow up. Never leave a customer in wait. If they have a question, answer it. If they leave a comment, reply to it. If they have something negative to say, follow up letting them know how you plan to change this in the future. If your business is too big and you can’t keep up with your clients, make sure to put someone else in charge of customer service department.

2. Quality

If you want to sell a product or service, you need to produce quality. Unless you have an unbelievable idea that has never been used before, you have a lot of competition out there. Offering an incentive with the first purchase might be a great idea to turn your prospects into paying clients, but unless you offer a quality products and services, they’re not going to stay long. If you can’t provide a quality product or service, there will be someone else who can.

1. Trust

The number one reason on our list of the top 7 reasons why your online business is not bringing you enough paying clients is trust. This is a big one! Many people are very cautious when buying online, so it is very important that your client trusts you. Many companies have a difficult time building trust, but without it, you are not going to get a purchase. Consistency helps tremendously in building trust. So what can you start doing consistently from now on? Or how can you improve what you’re already doing?

So there you have it – the top 7 reasons why your online business is not bringing you enough paying clients! Take the information above and use it to help better your online business and get more paying clients!

Oh, What a Year It Was! I recently shared with our Best Life Design Community, an exercise by Dan Pearce of Single Dad Laughing (http://bit.ly/fGL6t0) shaking up the New Year’s resolutions process. Instead of listing everything he wanted to happen in the New Year, Dan created a future memory at the beginning of the year about how the year progressed. We encouraged our Community to write their own 2011 in review, so it’s only right that I get the ball rolling and share mine. Here it goes…

So here he was, stuck in the office instead of watching his son play hockey. Meanwhile, Steve was out playing street hockey for three hours a day with his kids. What weighed more on Pete’s brain was that street hockey used to be the love of his life now, it was just a nuisance. Although he’d ...

I came across a video this week that features a new technology that captures people’s attention in a novel way. It’s worth watching simply to take a look and ask how you might use it in your business. But its value far surpasses this. In this video, Sir Ken Robinson, makes a powerful call for a paradigm shift in education. This struck me at a deep level, given my raising of 3 kids (including one we home schooled for a couple of years to provide him more of what he needed at the time) and my work on behalf of lower opportunity kids in the non-profit sector.
