Around this time of year, the air is charged with New Year’s Resolutions. But, have you thought about trying a few soul goals? Keeping your soul happy is the first step in achieving everything else. Here is my top ten list for thriving inside and out this year.nn 1. Choose wisely. Life is a series of choices and you choose your happiness. And choosing to allow toxic circumstances or people into your life can never lead to happiness.nn 2. Match your environment with your spirit. The people you surround yourself with and the places you frequent are a direct reflection of your position in life. If you’re unhappy with your surroundings, begin to make the changes that will bring you energy.nn 3. Speak up! Confrontation is never easy, but the suffocating feeling of holding it in is worse. Don’t let the passion be stomped out of you. Express your feelings in a non-finger-pointing-nanny-nanny-do-do-way. Be clear about why the situation bothers you and how it can be resolved.nn 4. Understand your four core values. It’s so much easier to make decisions once you’re clear about the basic values that make you feel the most authentic. *Email Katie for a core values worksheet.nn 5. Know what you want. Whether it’s choosing a restaurant for dinner, picking your outfit for the day or accepting a promotion at work – know what YOU want, regardless of what you think others would want you to choose.nn 6. Embrace your fear barrier. Do something everyday that scares you. Anything from making a cold call to sky-diving. Challenging your courage keeps your boundaries in check while stretching your limits.nn 7. Compliment yourself. Every day. Deep, true, statements about how much you love yourself. Believe your statements of inner and outer beauty!!nn 8. Plan ahead! New Year's Resolutions are over-rated, but setting goals is not. Having something to work toward keeps your mind fresh and your spirit excited.nn 9. Go with the flow. There is a thin line between working hard for something and forcing it to happen. Use 2008 to listen to your instincts and the subtle signs of life. Life is meant to flow, not flood.nn 10. Indulge. Find those tiny perfections of life (like chocolate covered strawberries) and allow yourself to indulge every now and again. Something just for you – on a random Tuesday. In the words of Forest Gump, “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get…” It’s learning to be happy with the sweet spots of life - as well as the sticky nougat - because it all happens for a reason and unfolds beautifully over time. Enjoy the journey!

Pancreatic cancer... that's what killed my grandfather at age 75, my father at age 70, and my childhood friend at age 56. It is considered by many as untreatable. So, I've been doing a great deal of research on the Internet about different ways I can help myself avoid becoming a victim of this deadly cancer. Listed below is my preventive strategy. First, let me emphasize that I am NOT a doctor or medical professional. I am not recommending anything to anybody. I can not be certain of any of the claims from the materials I have studied doing my research.
