Transform Yourself This Fall

I can’t believe it is October already! Soon the pumpkins, Halloween and Christmas decorations will be everywhere. This is one of my favorite seasons because of the richness in color all around. The beautiful fall leaves transform and change to brilliant colors, drawing us in to admire their breathtaking beauty.
As the summer recess ends and it's time to come inside, fall can bring opportunities for inner transformation as well.
If you could transform something about yourself what would it be? What have you set aside for the playfulness of summer that is calling for your return? What inner projects yearn for completion? What new chapter in your life wants to unfold this fall? What unwanted habit wants to be transformed into a positive one?
If you are ready for an inner transformation, here is a powerful process that uses your mind to quickly and easily solve a problem. In NLP we call it a Swish. My husband thinks it should be called SwitchJ. See for yourself.
Choose a problem or issue you want to transform. Ideas include, feeling more confident, eating healthy food more consistently, eliminating clutter, taking a class, starting a business, drinking more water, being more organized, releasing 10 pounds, stopping smoking etc.
Then close your eyes and see your current struggle with this issue. Using the your imagination, see a giant picture screen in front of you. Then create a picture of this unwanted situation on the screen. What does it look like, what are the colors, sounds, smells and tastes, how do you look in the picture, what’s your expression, and how are you feeling?
Next create another picture – a good picture, of what you want to see instead. What’s happening in the picture? How do you look and what are you feeling? What colors are in this new picture? What are you telling yourself? If there any sounds, smells and/or tastes in this picture turn them up. Using your imagination add more life to this picture, making it vibrant and alive and allow yourself to enjoy the good feelings you have in seeing this picture of the success you want.
Now, shrink this good picture down so it is tiny and put inside the left lower corner of the unwanted picture. Then, at the same time, shrink the unwanted picture, enlarge the good picture and say the word swish….
Clear the screen and your mind, and think about something else. Repeat this process 5 times-you can do this quickly. Each time you do, remove more and more qualities in the unwanted picture (ie remove the color, make it fuzzy, take the sound out, make it dimmer and distorted, etc).
After you've completed the 5th round, shrink the unwanted picture down until it can not get any smaller then watch it go-poof and just disappear.
Allow this good picture to completely fill the screen, getting bigger and bigger and more vibrant and alive than before so you can hear see and feel everything more intensely.
Next, step into that picture so that you can feel the joy and success in achieving what you want. Take a deep breath and breath it all in to every cell in your body.
Finally, put both your hands on your heart giving yourself a sense of gratitude for all you are becoming and for who you are. Open your eyes and enjoy your success.
Repeating this process will load your mind with the successful change you want to make and you’ll begin easily taking the steps necessary to fully manifest it in your life.
I love the fall because it is a season for powerful transformation. As the leaves change into brilliant colors, so too, can we transform our thinking into the heartfelt and meaningful lives we desire.

I was watching my six and nine year old daughters playing the other morning when suddenly there was a barrage of I Hate You and I Don't Like You Anymore statements flying about the room. Of course, it was just a moment of disagreement in child play, but the thoughts and feelings were real enough to them at that moment.
