A circular incision is made around the belly button in addition to the first incision as a result a post operative scar can be seen around the navel.

The larger will be the amount of skin and fat which will be removed longer will be the scar. The period of recovery will be longer and the post surgical scars will be more visible if the person undergoing surgery is a smoker.
