A great way for an author to expand their market reach is to do what is called “repurposing” the content of your book.

You can turn the content of your book into a number of different products and services. The book is the beginning of what could be a very profitable journey.

Simply put, repurposing is where you create a main product and you use that product many times in multiple formats.

A few of the primary benefits of repurposing are more targeted traffic; increased revenues; better SEO; increased visibility; and increased credibility.

Another great benefit is long-term sustainable revenue from having various revenue streams in place.

However, in order to make the most of repurposing your book you need to focus on building a responsive opt in subscriber list. Responsive simply means you have people who are more likely to buy your products and services.

One way to build your list is to take one chapter of your book and turn it into a free e-book giveaway. In order for people to download your e-book they would need to opt in for a giveaway.

Other information products you can turn your book into are CDs, MP3s, an audio version of the full book as well as services such as consulting and mentoring.

There are two primary phases for developing information products from your book. The first phase is your actual product development. The second phase marketing and sales.

The ratio should be 20 to 30% development 70 to 80% marketing and sales. Most authors reverse the order simply because they would much rather write than market.

If you have someone who can market for you, great! However, most authors are left to their own devices when it comes to marketing. Therefore, you have to be aware of how you are investing your time and on what aspect of products.

Take time to think about the many ways the information from your books can benefit the end uses. You may be surprised at how valuable that $20 book actually is.
