Independent Living Can Be an Ideal Solution
For the senior who still enjoys living independently but does need a little help to do so safely, independent living is a great option. In this senior living setting, seniors have their own private apartment within the community. Basic services, such as cooking and cleaning, are typically provided. Amenities can vary among these types of senior living communities. Some offer shuttle services for activities as well as organized group activities and trips. Many have community work out areas and shared green spaces.Just the Right Blend of Support and Independence
Assisted living communities provide a higher degree of care. Seniors have their own private living space, though those more in need of direct care might not have their own kitchen. This type of senior community provides assistance with daily activities, such as bathing, getting dressed and making sure medications are taken, in addition to meal assistance and cleaning. Social activities are also an important part of life in these communities. Some assisted living communities also provide memory care in a special wing with heightened security to prevent wandering. That allows seniors in the early stages of dementia or Alzheimer’s to still enjoy a certain degree of independence in a safe setting.Skilled Care In a Supportive Setting
This is the senior community setting for seniors that require 24-hour care. Residents have their own room or share a room with another resident. There are shared spaces for dining and social activities, as well as recreation areas outside. Many of these communities try to have as home-like an atmosphere as possible while providing supportive care. Senior living communities have a lot to offer. When the fit is right, seniors can enjoy an improved quality of life. They can have the opportunity to socialize with friends, participate in a variety of activities and have access to the level of care they need.Article author
