Age- In middle age, your throat becomes narrower and muscle tone decreases. As we can’t do anything for our increasing age but our lifestyle changes, throat exercise and new bedtime routine can help us. Being Overweight (out-of-shape) Poor muscle tone and fatty tissue contributes to snoring. Also if you are not overweight, carrying excess weight around the neck or throat may cause snoring. Proper and regular exercise and reducing weight can help you to end this problem. The Way You Have Developed Men have narrower passages than women are snore. A cleft palate, narrow throat, enlarged adenoids and other attributes that help to snoring are hereditary. Also, if you have no control on gender, you may control it with lifestyle changes, throat exercise and bedtime routine. Sinus and Nasal Problems Blocked airways and stuffy nose make inhalation difficult and develop a vacuum in a throat, leads to snoring. Medication, Smoking and Alcohol Alcohol intake, certain medication and smoking like tranquilizer such as lorazepam (Ativan) & diazepam (Valium) may increase relaxation. Sleep Posture Sleeping in straight position and on your back causes a flesh of throat to block the airway and relax. Changing sleep position also helps. Snoring can show sleep apnea, a sleep disorder when you breathing are interrupted many times in night. Normal snoring doesn’t interfere with sleep quality. Thus, if you are suffering from sleepiness and extreme fatigue in day time, it can be bad indication. You must consul to doctor as well. Monitor your snoring patterns and identify these symptoms. There’re different types of snoring like closed-mouth, open-mouth, when sleeping on your back and snoring in all positions. Nowadays you will be able to find many devices available in the market. This issue can be resolved in home. You can use an anti-snoring appliances used for mouth and clear nasal passages. Keep your bedroom air-moist. You must lose weight. Immediately quit smoking.
