Understanding The Power of Influence

There is a theory that essentially states that being in a positive or negative environment could have a powerful influence on you. In easy terms, by just being in its presence, essentially changes your nature.
When we come into contact with other individuals, we need to have the wisdom and understanding to determine whether they will have a negative impact or a positive influence on us. The negative influences are to be avoided at all cost in order to decrease the power that it may have over you. It could be people, places or things. We are going to focus on people in this article, since we live in a world where it is the people who comprise our environment.
Those who can have a negative impact are those who are always complaining, pessimistic, deceptive, hopeless, and essentially believe that life is just a never-ending struggle. The sheer presence of an individual who has a negative attitude can impact you in a harmful way. If you associate with negative people, you tend to become negative. If you keep company with a con artist or a thief, people will soon begin to associate you with these attributes. The proverb states; "birds of a feather flock together." Start spending time with people who are moving towards success. Look for people who are goal oriented, motivated and career minded. Soon you will start adapting to that type of behavior.
Fulfilling your life with passion, integrity and positive influences will have an impact your destiny. These positive influences include individuals who are disciplined, optimistic, supportive, confident, cheerful, loving, honest and generally believe that their destiny in life can be controlled by their own conscious actions and feelings. The amount of influence that we have over one another is a great deal more powerful than we will possibly ever know.
The important thing is to free ourselves from negative influences at the same time as we are opening ourselves up to the positive influences around us. Luckily, there is an abundance of positive influences that surrounds us all but we just have to become consciously aware of them. It makes life much more rewarding when you surround yourself with individuals who have a positive attitude with the purpose of mutually encouraging and supporting each other.
Throughout my experiences in life I have seen people who have dreamed big but failed to live out those dreams due to the people they surrounded themselves with. I learnt early that everyone is not going to arrive at the same destination with you. The people whom may have started with you may not be the same ones that finish with you. There is going to be some new faces and new places as you grow and develop. Although this can be difficult for some people, you also need to remove the negative people from your life. My mentor said that he could see my future just by looking at the five people with whom I spend the most time with.
You are in control of the influences others have on you. Learn how to let go of negative people, places and things that do not add value to your life. Your character and future will be molded by your thoughts, actions and associations. Choose wisely.
