It is true that first impressions are last impressions. To quantify that, a first impression that your site radiates is all attributed to your homepage. It plays a pivotal role to mark the success or failure of your website design.

That said, one can say that your homepage can be the concluding aspect from the users perspective to either dig deeper into your site or simply increase your bounce rate thereby heading back to the search engine to seek something more meaningful.
