If you’re using vinyl signs to advertise your business they should say: ‘Look at me!’ This means they need to be bold and arresting, yet simple enough to not distract from your core brand message. There are plenty of things to consider if you really want your signs to make an impact and bring in the crowds.
Here are just a few:
Location: One of the great things about vinyl signs is that they can go on almost any clean gloss surface, from shop windows to vans and even boats. You can display vinyl signs outside for long periods as they are weatherproof. The key thing is to find a place that is going to be visible to as large a number of your target audience as possible.
Colors: The most attention-grabbing signs are those that use only two or three colors at the very most. The eye is drawn to contrasts so don’t use any similar shades or the effect will be rather wishy-washy and messy. Try not to use too many images and keep those you do use simple. Lastly, the majority of successful signs will have a white background as this will draw the viewer’s attention to your brand logo and message.
Wording: The text you use for your sign needs to be short and memorable. Essentially, the passer-by has to be able to absorb it in seconds. Otherwise, their attention may already have wandered to something else. Come up with something that sums up what you want to say in one sentence or phrase. A truly successful advertising message is something the onlooker then wants to go and tell somebody else about.
Text Size: With the above in mind, your text should be large enough to be read from a distance. This will depend partly upon the location you have chosen and the allowance this gives you for size. Vinyl signs can be as big as you want them to be.
Hire An Expert: Lastly, if you really want to make the most of your signs and nobody in your company is an expert on design, it makes sense to bring in a professional signmaker. They will be able to work with the information you give them to come up with something that speaks to your target audience, creates the kind of buzz you want and hopefully draws new clients into your business.
