Mention the word tarot and the first thing that comes to mind for most people is fortune telling. Of course, whilst they would be totally correct in that way of thinking, the tarot cards are not just a tool for tarot card readings but can be used in many ways to help with focus and direction.
Many people use the Tarot as an aid to meditation. By focusing on specific cards and using affirmations, tarot cards can take us to different realms, open doorways and even guide us on new and exciting journeys. During meditation, some people focus on being the character on the card, such as The Magician, and then try to solve deeper problems by putting themselves into the characters shoes; solving puzzles and finding solutions to give a better understanding of how resolve is possible in their own lives.
Another use of tarot cards is as a tool for spell workings and magic. A popular spell is the “reunite lovers” spell where a card that resembles each of the person’s character or situation is chosen and then using focus and visualization the two lovers are brought back together. This is not just for reuniting lovers but can be used to attract new love. On the opposite side, this working is sometimes adapted when someone feels the need to break a bond with someone that causes negativity in their life; an abusive partner or even an addiction, for example.
There are many other ways in which tarot cards can offer us insight and guidance and form part of our daily lives. I personally chose a card daily and focus on what that card is showing me. I look to see if it is offering me a direction, or if it is showing me an area in my life in which to focus. I then keep this focus with me for the rest of the day and do my best to stay focused on my path. Of course, there are times when a card chosen may not mean anything particular at that moment, but by staying focused and combining some other methods, such as visualisation and meditation, the card could be offering you a path to new opportunities. This is the same focus that should be kept when using the tarot cards for future predictions.
Having a tarot card reading with a professional reader can be a very insightful experience. From offering answers to specific questions you have or by offering you direction and understanding of your present situation, there is a lot that you will learn from what the cards have to offer. Always take time to reflect on a reading after you have had one. It happens so many times that someone will say that they did not understand part of the reading only to then have this information click in their head a few days later. I always suggest that you take notes during a reading and go back to these every few days.
