E-learning has created a niche for itself in the corporate world. Today, more and more companies are opting for e-learning training modules to traditional classroom trainings for their employees. E-learning has gained immense popularity among organizations, with traditional instructor-led trainings being renounced from their scheme of things. The main reason for this being the low success rate of instructor-led training. The off-the-job training method, lacked participation from the employees, besides being monotonous. The employees had to take out time from their busy work schedule to attend the training sessions. The training sessions were less useful to the trainees, as the amount of information shared by the trainers was limited. This meant that the learning outcome was low, as compared to the money and time spent on the trainings. Since e-learning is web-based, the training modules are stored on the web with the help of LMS - Learning Management System. LMS is a web-based software program that helps in managing and delivering learning content to its user. The unique feature of the learning management system is that it can be accessed from anywhere and everywhere. So for example, if you are required by your organization to do a training on a particular subject, all you need is to, log into your company's learning management system and do the training. LMS - Learning Management System provides the facility of customizing content as per client requirements. Before developing the content, the e-learning service providers meet the clients and understand their needs. They employ subject matter experts (SMEs), instructional designers, and content developers to develop the training modules. The content designed by them is scalable, as it can be updated, as and when needed. The learning management software though is an effective tool for content management, many small organizations find its pricing beyond their reach. Good thing is that there is an alte ative for such organizations, the Software as a Service (SaaS). By using SaaS, organizations can drastically reduce the cost associated with the online training programs. The companies that are engaged in providing these services, provide all the software-related services and its maintenance. This service is perfect for those small organizations that do not require customized training content. Organizations that are not able to manage their training content, have an option of outsourcing their work to off-shore e-learning companies. These e-learning companies have dedicated centers to develop high-quality and interactivity based content, keeping their clients' requirement in mind.

I have a cousin who chose to become a carpenter rather than going to college. Fortunately for him and those who benefit from his beautiful work, he did not heed the advice of many family members who told him he would fail and never make money without a college degree. Once, while he was on vacation, he came to my home in Hawaii. It was hot. At the time the only air conditioning I could afford was a window unit, but I had no window to put one in.
