What I Learned From Successful People
Written by eric leader
As a personal trainer, one of the greatest things about my job is that I get to work with extremely successful clientele. In working with such clients, my goal is not only to help them achieve their goals, but to also learn from my clients what made them successful and the traits that it takes. In this article I would like to relay the information that I have compiled over years and years and years of training very successful people. Let's take a look.
One thing that I have noticed through my years of working with such a clientele is that they are very goal or task-oriented. What I mean is if you give them a goal, let's say hitting 15 burpees, they become very motivated and tunnel-visioned to achieve that goal. You see it all the time in their workouts, which gives you a glimpse into their professional life. Defining a task and wanting to accomplish it is a very common trait that I see in my clientele.
Consistency is another trait that is very common among overachievers. As a personal trainer, cancellations happen all the time. However, I have noticed a pattern that my most successful clients tend to cancel less often than my clients who aren't quite as successful professionally. With this correlation in mind, my experience has shown me that consistency is another very common trait of successful people. Preparedness is another very important trait that I have noticed. From the right shoes, to the heart rate monitor, to supplementation, you name it. Many of my clients who have done the best in their programs and who have become the most successful overall in their careers are always very prepared. There is never a time where they don't have whatever tools they need at hand to accomplish a task.
Detail oriented is also an important trait that I've noticed. Clients who tend to do the best in their programs tend to pay attention to all details within their program. From a dietary journal, to the sets and reps they have performed, you name it they tend to be interested and motivated by keeping detail-oriented logs of what they have performed.
So without a doubt we could assume that the traits mentioned above have a very important role in the success that one may end up having in their career. The characteristics that it takes to achieve your goals in the fitness realm are not unlike the traits that are important in achieving your goals professionally. The correlation is strong, and I think that it is to our benefit to learn to adopt such traits.
Wishing you all the best in health and continue to push forward towards achieving your goals.
