What is it About Intuition?

I find it fascinating that people we perceive as rational are totally using their intuition. What is your experience with intuition? I’d love to hear about it and how it has affected your life?

Everybody knows Albert Einstein, the German-bo
physicist who developed the theory of relativity. As the most influential physicist of the 20th century, we would expect that he is very rational and fact-driven. Yet, he is known for using his intuition and we attribute to him a large number of quotes about intuition and imagination. For example:

• “The only really valuable thing is intuition.” - “I believe in intuition and inspiration; at times I feel certain I am right while not knowing the reason." - "The intellect has little to do on the road to discovery. There comes a leap in consciousness, call it intuition or what you will, and the solution comes to you and you don't know why or how." ~ Albert Einstein

How can you use your intuition to reach your goals and live a joyful fulfilling life?

The most important thing about intuition is that you’ve got to trust the information you are getting. We all have phenomenal intuitive abilities but most of us do not trust our gut feeling, our hunch, and override it with our mind.

To start trusting your intuition, be open to receiving inputs and ideas without knowing exactly how and where you got them from. You simply know - you might hear something and you feel it.

Like creativity, intuitive inputs often happen when you are relaxed - for example, in the shower, out in nature and also while exercising as you increase the blood flow to the brain. They happen when you are fully present, when your thoughts are in the moment and you are paying attention to the various intuitive inputs you receive. This practice will allow you to grow your intuitive abilities. This will lead you to a higher level of consciousness.

If you wonder about your intuitive abilities, just think about the decisions you are making on a daily basis - deciding how to dress for the day, selecting a meal when eating out or choosing a book to read. All these are decisions that are more or less influenced by your intuition. Now, the bigger decisions such as choosing your life partner, selecting the right car to buy, evaluating a job, or deciding which college to go to can be as much influenced by your intuition, yet, you tend to overthink those and override intuition with your mind.
