A persons body makes free radicals during ordinary everyday actions. Eating, walking, running, breathing, toxins processed diets, chemicals in our meals and all natural activities contribute to free radical manufacture in our body.
A free radical is a molecule in your body that has lost one of its electrons, leaving it with an odd number of electrons. These free radical molecules make an effort to stabilize themselves by “stealing” an electron from a healthy molecule. This grabbing of the missing electron causes injury to your body. It is believed that free radicals using electrons from nourished molecules are one of the main causes of getting old.
Define Antioxidants!
Antioxidants are found in non-processed ingredients. Antioxidant-solidingredients have nutritional elements with extra electrons. Consuming these high antioxidant ingredients helps avoid the hurt to your body done by free radicals. What happens is that the antioxidant donates the free radical the extra electron so the free radical does not have to steal one. This protects your body from aging. The antioxidant food repairs the free radical and therefore protects your body from aging.
Our bodies can manufacture antioxidantsin nature, but under everyday conditions such as a bad diet, taking intoxins, life's stressors or other life problems your body may become incapable of producing antioxidants. Do you know someone who looks older than they are? Chances are their badeating and lack of antioxidants has caused to early aging.
Antioxidant Foods
Frequently an antioxidant-dense food may be called a super food. Super ingredients are generally considered foods that are nutrient rich compared to the amount of calories and high in antioxidants. Ingredients high in antioxidants include the super foods garlic, green tea, dark greens, yellow and orange squashes and almost any fruit or vegetable with a deeply colored skin. There are zillions of organic food choices that would be considered good value in antioxidants. Most of these diets also are high in other nutrients that your body needs. Other choices of antioxidant foods include:
Citrus fruits and their juices, berries, dark green vegetables (broccoli, kale, green beans, spinach, other greens), red and yellow peppers, tomatoes and tomato juice, pineapple, cantaloupe, mangos, papaya and guava are all high in vitami C.
Fats that are a liquid such as safflower, nuts, soybean and nut butters, seeds, non-processed grains, wheat, wheat germ, brown rice, oatmeal, soybeans, sweet potatoes, legumes (beans, lentils, split peas) and dark leafy green vegetables must be incorporated in a real food diet. Not only are they good sources of antioxidants, they are also bringing a packed source of vitami E.
Brazil nuts, brewer’s yeast, oatmeal, brown rice, and non-processed grains give your body antioxidants and the needed mineral selenium.
A selection of dark orange, red, yellow and green vegetables and fruits such as sweet potatoes, carrots, red peppers will provide you with antioxidants and also the much needed beta-carotene.
A real food diet gives you all the building blocks of life that are made up of not only antioxidants but also all the other nutrients that maintain a healthy physical condition. Fruits and vegetables provide an good source of natural antioxidants to help your body stabilize the free radicals and reduce the damage that they cause.
