The highest and best use of social media privacy is protecting not only oneself but those people that person cares about in the world. This means the user must not only be wary of who they add to their profile on the system, but who they mention in their posts as well. This means that everyone they mention in their own streams could lose their privacy as well.
The new world of privacy on the internet lets people choose what posts they are “tagged in”. This is only because the social networking companies got in trouble for not allowing the users choose what posts they are included in and which posts they are not included in on the social networks. This means that there were a lot of incidents that happened that caused the social networks to have to make this change.
The point is clear here, however, not only can a social network be dangerous to the person using the system but the people who are included in their posts as well. There will be situations where a co-worker will tag another worker in something they are doing whether or not they are actually there. If another co-worker sees this and reports it (assuming that it was during a work period), then all parties except the reporting party will be punished.
Therefore, a user should be careful how they use the social media systems and who they post in that post as well. They are not only jeopardizing their own social networking privacy but those of their friends as well if they are not careful. This is a fact that most people do not think about, but really should.
There is a lot of collateral damage that a person can do to their friends and family if they are not careful. The system will also track the posts that person puts on the social networking system and will associate that post with the other person. This means that information that is not necessarily true about the user may be associated with their account, and this can be a very dangerous situation for a person who needs to use the social media system in the future to defend themselves.
The truth is that the social networking profile will be used in a court of law if it is helpful for either side to use it. This is the place where that information can become dangerous. It can be inferred from that post that a person has the mentality that is in that post. If this post is any way racially or criminally charged, then that will be used against the user.
Therefore, a person must be careful who they let into their social media system and also what they say on the social media systems because that person can find that information used against them in the future. A person must look at every angle on a social media system before they use it and every post they are included in because a person never knows what will come back to haunt them in the future.
In conclusion, legality is something that a person should consider when beginning to use the social media systems because this one thing could change everything about how they use the social media systems. Everyone should consider that everything they say will be used against them at some point in the future. Therefore, every person should only release information that they feel comfortable everyone knowing about them.
